Medical Forum 2020 - Sudden Cardiac Death

The Heart Rhythm Association Singapore (HRAS) will bring to you a series of education programs targeted at family physicians, physicians or scientists, whose careers demonstrate a commitment to cardiac electrophysiology, pacing and/or the treatment of patients with heart rhythm disorders.

SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH remains an important cause of mortality and is tragic when it occurs in a young patient. ECG makers and family history may identify some of these patients. In the older patients, the majority of cases of sudden cardiac deaths are related to underlying coronary artery disease. Thus screening for arrhythmia and underlying ischemic heart disease or abnormal structural heart disease are important. Resuscitation remains vital to improve survival and prevention when possible is important.
